MTHFR Genotyping
SpectraCell’s MTHFR Genotyping evaluates two clinically significant variants in the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene, C677T and A1298C. The MTHFR enzyme is essential for folate metabolism and homocysteine processing, both of which play an important role in methylation and overall cellular function. By identifying these variants, this test provides meaningful insight that cansupport personalized health assessment and care planning.
Methylation Support
Methylation is involved in many vital biological functions, including
- Detoxification
- Energy production
- Genetic expression/DNA repair
- Inflammatory, immune, and stress response
- Neurotransmitter balance
- Production and recycling of glutathione
Clinically Relevant Context
MTHFR variant identification can help provide additional context for evaluating homocysteine metabolism, folate utilization, and related cardiovascular or neurological health considerations. These findings may support more individualized nutrition and wellness strategies.
