Collect & Pack Your Sample

Before you begin:

Have your complete test kit and requisition ready. Use the tabs below for the preparation, collection, handling, and packing requirements for your specific test.

Use FedEx Priority Overnight

Ship using the pre-paid FedEx Priority Overnight label we provide.

Drop Off at a FedEx Location or Facility*

Hand your package directly to a FedEx staff member at a FedEx location or facility. Do not use drop boxes or third-party drop- off sites.

Ship the Same Day Before the FedEx Cut-Off Time

Ship your sample on the same day your blood is drawn. Do not store or hold the sample overnight.

To help protect your sample, schedule your blood draw on a day when you can drop off the package before the daily FedEx cut-off time, ideally early in the week to help avoid weekend transit delays. Packages dropped off after the cut-off may be held overnight, which can compromise your sample.

Check your location's cut-off time via the FedEx Location Finder or FedEx customer service.

*Alternatively, use the FedEx On-Call Pickup Scheduler or call FedEx customer service to schedule a pickup.

Before collection

  • Freeze all ice packs for at least 24 hours.
  • Verify the expiration date on both ACD tubes.

Collect & mix

  • Collect two full ACD tubes.
  • Immediately after collection, invert each tube 8 times to mix.

After collection

  • Ensure both tubes are marked with the patient name, date of birth, and date of collection.
  • Complete the Specimen Information section on the requisition.

Key packing rule

  • Keep ACD tubes away from direct contact with all frozen ice packs.
  • Follow the video to place ice packs and specimens in their correct compartments.

Use FedEx International Priority Express

Ship using the pre-paid FedEx International Priority Express label provided in your kit.

Prepare Your Customs Documentation

Insert 3 copies of the Commercial Invoice into the clear document pouch on the outside of the FedEx bag with the airbill.

*In case of FedEx complications, UPS is permitted. Check your UPS location's cut-off time.

Lipoprotein Particle Profile Plus Kit

Fast before collection, follow the SST processing requirements, then use the vertical video to pack the refrigerated specimens correctly.

Before collection

  • Fast for 9–12 hours before collection.
  • Freeze all ice packs for at least 24 hours.
  • Verify the expiration date on both SST tubes.

Collect & process

  • Collect two full SST tubes.
  • Allow both tubes to clot for 20–30 minutes.
  • Centrifuge at 3000 rpm for 15 minutes. Do not pour off the serum.

After collection

  • Ensure both tubes are marked with the patient name, date of birth, and date of collection.
  • Complete the Specimen Information section on the requisition.
  • Refrigerate the tubes until shipping.

  • Place the SST tubes directly between and against all frozen ice packs.
  • Follow the video to place ice packs and specimens in their correct compartments.

Customers are responsible for arranging and paying for express return shipping to SpectraCell Laboratories, ideally with delivery within 1–2 business days. FedEx International Priority Express, FedEx International First, or an equivalent express courier service is recommended. Do NOT use economy, ground, or standard international mail services.

Drop Off at a Direct Location or Facility

Hand your package directly to a courier staff member. Do not use drop boxes or third-party drop-off sites. Some locations may request a paper Air Waybill. If so, use the pre-filled AWB in your kit and fill in only the sender's information.

Ship your sample on the same day your blood is drawn. Do not store or hold the sample overnight.
