NOTIFICATION REGARDING CHANGES IN PROCESSING OF “TEST IN QUESTION” SAMPLES

We would like to inform you of changes in our sample handling procedures for orders where the requested laboratory testing is either not indicated or is ambiguous on the requisition. This change will be effective May 1, 2018.

When samples are received at SpectraCell Laboratories and the requested testing is not indicated:

  • We will contact the ordering provider’s office the day of receipt for instructions before proceeding.
  • If we cannot resolve the Test in Question (TIQ) on the day of receipt, samples that can be held will be stored under appropriate conditions until the TIQ can be resolved or the sample exceeds established stability limits.
  • Our Micronutrient Test (MNT) is performed on living cells and sample stability is very limited. If we cannot resolve an MNT TIQ on the day of receipt (by 3:00 pm US Central Time), the sample will be rejected, and no testing will be performed.

This process change will ensure that we provide you with the most accurate laboratory results for the tests of interest.

NOTIFICATION REGARDING CHANGES IN CARDIOMETABOLIC TESTING

January 18, 2018

We want to inform you of a change in our sample handling procedures for orders requesting Cardiometabolic (CM) testing. This change will be effective 1/29/2018.

We use the test results to assess risk for developing cardiovascular disease and/or type 2 diabetes.  Results are most informative if derived from the same time point.  Beginning on the effective date shown above, if any part of the CM sample is unacceptable for testing, the entire CM order will be rejected and a redraw will be requested.  This process change will ensure that we provide you with the most accurate laboratory data for assessing cardiometabolic risk.

NOTIFICATION REGARDING AUTOMATIC ENROLLMENT FOR BORDERLINE REPORTING

We want to inform you of a change in our Micronutrient test report. This change will be effective 7/1/2016.

In addition to flagging the test components indicating nutritional deficiencies, we will also be highlighting borderline values – those test components approaching deficiency status that you may find informative in clinical management of your patients.

If you do not want borderline values identified on your patient reports, you may opt out by contacting your SpectraCell sales representative or Customer Support Services at 1-800-227-5227 (option 4).
